Blessing of Babies & Dedication of Children
Blessing of Babies and Dedication of Children
The blessing of a baby and dedication of a child is an acknowledgement by the parents that the child is a gift from God, and that the parents desire to recommit the child to Him. It is a promise made by the parents and by every support person present to commit themselves to rearing the child for God's glory.
"For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore, I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord." (I Samuel 1:27-28)

Q: What is a baby blessing?
A: Baby blessing is the act of giving back to God the gift He has given to parents. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, dependence, trust and commitment. The practice of baby blessing has been modeled throughout the Bible. For example, Hannah brought her long-awaited son Samuel to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:24-28). Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple for His dedication (Luke 2:22-24).
We recognize that salvation only comes to a child through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is not passed on to a child through baby blessing. Parents commit to raise their children by modelling godly principles with the desire that one day they will receive Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour
.Q: When & where are baby blessings held?
A: Baby blessings are scheduled upon requests and are incorporated into our morning Celebration Worship Service. There are a few exceptions contingent upon the church calendar.
